Yes, fuzzy search and especially full-text search.
Me thinks what would make for a good solution is to build a search
comparison string from all the metadata fields an item has and use that
as a base for a fuzzy search.

Oh, that's a different feature. The search only works on items' names. It would
find a playlist "bust", but no playlist with a track "bust".
