Hi Yousef,
I would take a look at some library that we can used with freetype2 (our
current text drawing low-level library). To re-create the wheels ourselves
seems a bit overkill to me.
This text has a good overview, Panda caught my eyes there:

Hi all,
I'll definitively agree with replacing for (+) icons. This really makes
things more clear.
Don't think changes to header is really so nice. It's difficult to
distinguish it in sequencer, user preferences, a bit easier to

Most problematic changes for me are;
- Dark arrows ; should be bright, otherwise hard to see in both monitors I'm
using right now.
- No embossing ; I'm ok with making embossing more subtle but it's TOO
subtle right now.

I think Brecht's UI changes look better than the current interface, although
there are a few things that people have brought up which I agree should be
changed first.

* Remove button emboss
I don't have any strong opinions on this

I think that the way Brecht is trying to simplify the UI is very good,
and makes visual scalability much better.
William Reynish recently did a proposal as well, based on Brechts UI
changes:

Hi Brecht,
I would like to have seen this proposed differently. Namely:

- Propose which new options could go to themes

I talked about that with Campbell, and we got to some roadmap that should be
