Feature request reminder :)
A pure white Emission-like BSDF that can receive only shadows. ie:shadow
catcher.
It will likely be slower than a standard Emission node yet faster than
traditional BSDF's that handle self-shadowing and coloring. The transfer
and calculation bandwidth for greyscale
Build a branch. Do whatever you want to the internals. Try and keep all
new official features up to date so the branch can be ready for merging at
a moments notice in a year or two when it's super-awesome and ready. Make
sure there are well-documented progress on a forum so other people who are

So far as I understand it, the tile size is only used to format the data
into chunks which better match an individual computer's capabilities.
There should be no change in quality. If there is a difference in the
final results, this would be a good reason to file a bug report on the
tracker.
I liked that feature as well since the 3D cursor doesn't actually show up
aligned well relative to the 2D cursor when clicked. Unfortunately it was
reverted, don't know why.
