[Bibdesk-users] Path to attached PDFs

2020-01-30 Thread Pavšič , Miha
Dear all,

I need to import one of my BibDesk library files into Zotero to use it there
for writing in Word (unfortunately). To have everythjing regarding to that
project there I would like to import to Zotero also the PDFs which are stored
in the same folder as the bib file. Zotero doesn't find them since BibDesk uses
the macOS alias. Is there any was to enable paths to files in BibDesk so that
other programs can find the files?

Thank you in advance.

Miha

Thanks, I’ve succeeded doing it with the script LinkedFilesToFields.applescript
I’ve downloaded from here: https://github.com/andriusvelykis/bibdesk-scripts

I’ve changed the settings of the script so that the file field was named "File"
and then “manually" (Find & Rename in text editor) renamed fields File-2,
File-3 etc. to “File” (where there were multiple files linked to the same
reference). Also, the path in thse script was set to be absolute, the relative
one (in the style of {./a.pdf} ) was not recognized by Zotero.

Afterwards everything went smoothly.

Thanks again!

Miha

[Bibdesk-users] Orphaned Files: Unknown papers folder

2020-01-15 Thread Pavšič , Miha
Dear all,

Recently I've noticed that "Orphaned Files" feature is not working. I'm sure
that I have some PDF's in the folder that are not linked to any entry in the
bib file, however none are found. The "Orhpaned Files" window says (at the
bottom): "Unknown papers folder." I have files auto-stored in the same folder
that also contains the bib file. Accessing PDFs from BibDesk works fine; also,
renaming the file in Finder is reflected in BibDesk. I have BibDesk version
1.8.3, macOS 10.15.2.

Is there some trivial problem that I'm facing?

Thank you in advance,
Miha

Dear Christiaan,

Thanks, setting a fixed papers folder worked! Previously I had the “File papers
relative to each document” on.

Miha

What papers folder have you set in your Autofile preference? Is this a fixed
file, and does this exist? Or are you using a papers folder relative to the
document? And have you more or less than one open document?

Christiaan

I think I found a problem in the code. I assume you have your papers folder set
relative to the document? In that case it may not find the papers folder from
the orphaned files feature. I’ll have this fixed in the next nightly build,
unfortunately just too late for the release. You could also work around this by
setting a fixed papers folder in your Autofile preferences.
