Re: [Bibdesk-users] creating a static group of references

2018-04-06 Thread Lin, Eric X
I use biblatex, and I haven't had a problem with this.

On bibdesk, I goto Database/Select Publications from .aux file, and it
brings up a finder window to find the file. When I select that, it all
works well!

Eric

Warmly,

Eric

It seems like that's the way BibLaTeX does it in general, yes. Even with
regular (non Chicago) BibLaTeX I get these commands.

Is that why?

I just tried replacing \abx@aux@cite with bibcite and it works so that’s a

You should not drop the aux file on a single item, only drop on the whole
table, ie the whole table should be highlighted.

Does the aux file contain \bibcite commands? That's what we look for.

Re: [Bibdesk-users] creating a static group of references

2018-04-05 Thread Jan David Hauck
This seems a great functionality, but I recently tried it and it did not
work.
You meant dragging and dropping the aux file onto the BibDesk window the
main table with entries, correct?
When I do this either nothing happens, or, when one entry is highlighted
the aux file is added as external file to that entry. What am I doing
wrong?

One way you can go is drop the .aux file on the main table. This will
select the cited items in the table. You can then export as bibtex, while
checking the selection option in the save panel.

[Bibdesk-users] creating a static group of references

2018-03-15 Thread Lin, Eric X
sometimes, I want to create a static file of references from a paper that
I've written. Rather than go through my bibliography to see what cites to
manually add, I can use some of the aux files from the compilation process
to quickly generate a list of cite keys that have been used in the paper.
Is there a way to generate a static list in bibdesk based on this list of
cite keys (the cite keys correspond to the entries that I have created in
bibdesk?)?

I can see one application of this is to quickly sort out which citations I
have actually used recently, by grabbing all the cite keys that have
appeared in my papers. Periodically, I could clean house on my bibdesk and
weed out citations that I just don't use.

If anyone knows a way to do that, I would very much appreciate help in
figuring that out!
