For those interested in exotica, a European Greenfinch was seen at 10 am today
in the company of a male and female house finch, a song sparrow and three
cardinals.
The greenfinch was seen in the brush and shrubs at the edge and on the slope to
the northeast of the paved cycling trail north of
Mark Read, James Barber and I just found a Cattle Egret in a field west of
Kingston. It can disappear quite easily in the long grass.
Directions: from Napanee go east on Hwy 2 about 9 km. The bird is in a
field with cattle on north side of the road immediately east of NUMBER

Tyler Hoar, Antonio Coral and I have just seen a Cliff Swallow at 786 Kelly

While watching a large flock of Pine Siskins feeding on Goldenrod seeds, Nancy
spotted a Baltimore Oriole in the flock. This is a late record for this
species. Good pictures were taken and I was able to rule out other possible
oriole species.

Ontario Birders,
Fall migration started to show signs of weakness this last week, at least in
terms of most landbird migrants. In other respects things are just getting
started. There have been approximately 25,000 Redhead on the Inner Bay
accompanied by a smattering of most dabbling ducks.
Between 10:30 and 11:30 this morning Margaret Bain and I saw 10 Golden
Eagles (mostly juvs) and 5 Bald Eagles (no adults), plus 3 adult
Red-Shouldered Hawks, 22 Red-tailed Hawks, 10 TVs in one kettle, and a
handful of accipiters (Sharpies or Cooper's) we could not identify for
certain.

There are currently fifty-plus Ruddy Ducks in Grenadier Pond in Toronto.
No idea if they're going to be there tomorrow, but they're there now and
actively feeding. (Feeding complete with whole-flock-at-once diving.)
(Also some bufflehead, many northern shovellers, and the ubiquitous
mallards.)

The bird was in my back garden on Algonquin Ave at noon today. I would think
the bird could be found in in the south eastern area of High Park, which is
directly across Parkside Ave from Algonquin.
