Little Egret arrived at 0514 this morning at Andrew Hayden Park West and is
still present.
There is also a single Brant present.

The previously reported Neotropic Cormorant is currently sitting on the
breakwall by Windermere Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard.
Directions: Take the Gardiner Expressway to Lake Shore Boulevard, and park in
the lot at the foot of Windemere Avenue.

I saw three red-headed woodpeckers just east of Erie Beach in Fort Erie.
According to residents, they have been there for quite some time. They were in
the trees at Lakeshore Road and Buttonwood Drive.

Ben and I observed our first fall shorebirds yesterday, July 1, a Lesser
Yellowlegs at Shirley’s Bay and today there were three adult Lesser Yellowlegs
and a Solitary Sandpiper along with 12 Great Egrets including a banded
individual, 61J.

It appears the routine of the Little Egret is an early morning visitor to
Andrew Haydon Park, arriving around 5:15 a.m. and departing after an hour or
so. If any out of town birders are contemplating coming up I’d recommend to be
at the site by 5:00 a.m. Evening observations
Further to Bruce and Ben Di Labio's report of southbound Lesser Yellowlegs
in Ottawa, I saw three adult Lessers today at Holland Landing south of Lake
Simcoe. We soon can expect the first southbound adult Least Sandpipers and
Short-billed Dowitchers. July is also a good time to watch for Eurasian
