Since last weekend, the onset of wintry conditions has significantly
altered birding at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Not only has much of the
open water frozen over, but birders themselves have become scarce, a
situation that will change this Sunday during the Christmas Bird Count.

The bird of the week was a HARLEQUIN DUCK, seen at Britannia on the 9th to
at least the 11th. What may be a second bird was
It took about 5 minutes to relocate the Lark Sparrow today at 2:30 pm It was
flying strongly coming to seed placed in the trail near the pair of white
transport trailers furthest from the DonRiver. It was taking shelter at the
base of the warehouse north of the decline.

At 10:30 this morning at Lakeshore and Royal Windsor, I had two groups of
Sandhill Cranes 30+20 flying west then south toward Lake Ontario.
