Today there was at least one Sedge Wren to be found at Isaac Lake. It was
singing frequently and responded well to pishing. It appeared to be building a
nest as it was carrying nesting material and returning to the same clump of
grass roughly 8-10 meters from the road. It was seen, and
9 birders enjoyed a successful trip to Skunk's Misery this morning.
Highlights included good looks at Acadian Flycatcher, Cerulean Warbler and
Hooded Warbler. We saw 2 Mourning Warblers, including 1 singing a perfect
Common Yellowthroat song (in the same place that we saw this bird the
previous
Today's outing was OFO's 26th annual field trip to the Carden Alvar. In
ideal weather, our group of 37 tallied 90 species by walking Wylie Road in
the morning and visiting other birding sites in the afternoon. We saw many
of the target birds including superb views of Loggerhead Shrike,
I did a couple of day trips around the county birding this week and came up
with the following.First a couple of days ago I went to the Perth Wildlife
Reserve and I can recommend this place to any local birder.The entrance
road had many warblers and vireos but the highlight was a pair
Hello Birders,
I found an adult Laughing Gull on the rocks outside of the harbour. The thunder
from the approaching storm is frequently flushing the gulls, and the bird is
not currently in sight.
Wheatley Harbour is located at the south end of Erie Street in Wheatley.

A singing male Kirtland's was found this am by Michael Carlson and refound at
1030.
Location is in Southampton along the Rail trail just in from Hwy 21.
Rail trail is across Hwy 21 from the Stop 21 Motel north. Bird was in Scots
pine regrowth.

The Yellow-breasted Chat on 26th was a different bird.
Seen on 23rd at Prince Edward Point were 2 Olive-sided Flycatchers, Cerulean
Warbler and Acadian Flycatcher.

The Arctic Tern is showing well on the east pier of Cobourg harbour together
with Commons, Caspians and 1 or perhaps 2 Forster’s Terns.
Many young Boneys and at least 2 first year Little Gulls.
Kittiwake has not been seen since 7.15am but may be out on lake – worth
checking later today as
Neither of these gulls were present between 6:45 and 7:45 this morning. Thick
fog rolled in after David Pryor initially found the Laughing Gull and by the
time it cleared and after numerous dogs passed through the area, the bird had
flown.

The Laughing Gull discovered yesterday is currently present at Ashbridges Bay.
When viewing from the flooded area, the bird is on the far Lakeside beach.
