Earlier this evening 4 Common Nighthawks hunting over the ball diamond in Glen
Williams. Just by the Credit River. From 7:30 until 8:30 they were still there.
Directions: In Georgetown take Mountainview Rd. north which then becomes
Confederation St. In Glen Williams. Turn right at Preston’s Stor

Noam Markus found a Western Sandpiper this morning at Tommy Thompson Park
amongst a large group of peeps in cell 2. The Hudsonian Godwit was also still
present as of 11:30am. Also present throughout the morning were Stilt and
Pectoral Sandpipers, both Yellowlegs and Semipalmated Plovers. The

I had marvelous views of a light morph juvenile Long-tailed Jaeger this morning
at Port Franks Beach. The bird came in off the lake, passed nearly directly
overhead at no more than 50 m, then proceeded straight east overland. See

Following up on word that Golden Plovers were recently spotted near Osgoode
southeast of Ottawa, last evening I had 108 (photo count) in the expected
field. The birds moved about from near the road to the back of the field,
being put up first by a large flock of juvenile Starlings that landed right
Yesterday Bob Tyler and I birded Ward’s Island and small parts of Algonquin and
Snake Islands and though migration is very slow starting we did find some new
birds but only only 6 warblers, 5 single species and 2 Redstarts and another N.
Waterthrush.
