Just 4 days after reporting a Loggerhead Shrike on our farm, a first winter gray phase Northern Shrike is now at the same irrigation pond. With the Loggerhead image still fresh in my mind, this individual was stockier, much less black banding through the eye, and had a brown wash on the breast.

Good morning I just had a Loggerhead Shrike at our farm in Sebringville. I was alerted to the call, and found the bird perched and calling in the trees at our irrigation pond. I confirmed the call notes with my Sibley phone app. Interestingly, this bird was in the same location on our farm

Good morning Today while working in my barn, I was drawn outside by a call I had not heard before. A loud, clear bell-like note. The bird was perched at the top of one of our Silver Maples, and flew off as I approached. I did however get a look at it while it was flying. Grayish with wing bars.

There is currently a pair of Ospreys building a first nest just outside Phillipsburg. The nest is in the first steel hydro pylon east of the intersection of Erb rd and Nafziger rd 5, along the Nith River. It looks like they just got started today. Antony John
