For information
heavy concentration, as I have no way of estimating the
numbers, likely in the 10's of thousands.
On the way back home to Ottawa we saw several hundred snow geese in a good
number of skeins flying north in the area of Apple Hill.

Unless it was an escapee, there was a badly moulting ring necked pheasant
gracefully crossing the street on Cahill Drive and Cutts Priv. at around
10:30am
Cahill Drive is 8.5km south on Bank Street from Parliament Hill. Cahill runs
east off Bank, at the South Keys shopping centre, just
to the
northeast, Huntsville to the west and Whitney to the east.
Opeongo Road runs north from Hwy 60 at kilometre 46 in the Park.
Hwy 127, runs south from hwy 60 just east of Whitney towards Lake St Peter
and Bancroft.

Not that it is that infrequent, but there was a green heron at Carleton
University this morning, in the Rideau River, just west of the train bridge.
(Opposite the gravel beach the ducks come to looking for handouts on the
Vincent Massey Park side) Might have been one of the heron's from Fletcher
.
Marsh is at bottom of hill on both sides, more activity on the left (west)
side
Nature trails are found at the west end of the parking lot.

Directions: (once in Ottawa)
Prince of Wales Drive to (Central) Experimental Farm. At traffic circle
drive into Arboretum and park just past the top of the tobogganing hill.
Walk down the pathways to the canal.
It was too nice a day to stay home so we drove from Ottawa down to the
Seaway Valley.
We were treated to a spectacular sight as we drove Hwy #2 from Morrisburg
to Lancaster.
We stopped at the Upper Canada Bird Sanctuary to see what was there. A few
Canada Geese were around but not much
