My post for Toronto Islands yesterday said we had 11 Orange-crowned Warblers,
we actually had 13.

The October floodgates opened last week with a significant movement of
temperate migrants accompanied by the last of the tropical ones. Diversity and
numbers of Waterfowl, Raptors, and other waterbirds continued to build and
there was a great mix

Hi Ontbirders,
Just to follow-up on Stan's note, I had much of what Stan reports (though
didn't have any shorebirds) plus there were 2 female Northern Pintail 4
Cackling Geese yesterday afternoon, 2 in the far NW corner (near the stream)
and 2 mixed in with the Canadas just south of the NW

My Dad and I birded the Pelee area today, with some good birds. Highlights
below:
Cattle Egret - we found the same bird seen earlier in the week at
Lighthouse Cove, perched along the Thames River (

Today (2014-10-11) at approximately 16h00 EDT I saw a juvenile ruddy
duck on Grenadier Pond in High Park. I presume it's very lost but it
seemed in good health and alert.
The bird was swimming by itself just north of the large planked platform
that extends into the pond from the trail along the
Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch
