This evening between 7:30 and 8:00 several thousand geese arrived at the
Moodie Drive pond south of Ottawa. Tremendous sight and sound. Amongst the
Canada Geese were at least five Snow Geese (2 dark form adult, 1 white adult
and two juveniles). Also, near the viewing gate on Moodie Drive there
This evening at around 7 pm, the two Trumpeter swans previously seen on the
Mill Pond in Hillsburgh, were spotted just south of the village on Lake Roman.
They were kept company by a large number of Tree Swallows.
Lake Roman is located on the south east corner of 6th Line and Sideroad 22, in

Well. it looks like at least one of my 3 pairs of siskins has nested
successfully (although I never did find the nest). An adult was seen feeding a
begging young bird today in my yard. Couldn't see what the food was but it was
tiny and it wasn't offered until the young bird had urged the parent

Little Gulls numbers have been fluctuating between 10-20 birds for most of
the week. This morning there were 32 birds present. Up to 23 birds could be
observed at one time performing courtship display flights over the marsh.
