Seems like I get this consistent migrant every spring/fall for 1-2 days.
First Swainson's thrush of the year, hence the report.
Considering that I live at Pape and O'Connor, I'm always surprised to find
it in my backyard.

On a blustery, sunny morning today, I found a pair of Eastern Bluebirds on
High Road, south of the Ottawa Airport. The pair tried at several nesting
boxes to oust Tree Swallows, with some success. Also Barn Swallows at the
barn on the corner of Earl Armstrong and High Road and several Eastern

Today (24 April) at 1:00 PM, I observed a Yellow Palm Warbler (hypocrysea)
along a trail within Maple Hill Park. I have X'd the spot on the trail
where I observed the bird. All-round good spring birding throughout the
trail system and along the adjacent Rideau River: Yellow-rumped

At Presqu’ile Provincial Park, as at most other locations in Ontario, spring
bird migration comes in waves, and there have been none of any significance for
over a week. Instead, the expected migrants at this time of year have come as
a slow steady stream.
