afternoon. Cuckoos showing well on Bennet Rd. Prothonotary is displaying
nesting activity on Tulip Trail. Northern Mockingbird bird at the tip of
South Point Trail.

Today was the first official day of this year's Whimbrel Watch at
Whimbrel Point, Col. Sam Smith Park. There were no Whimbrels to be seen
although yesterday Wayne Renaud saw 5 birds fly over.
We did have other shorebirds, though - 54 Dunlin, 3 Black Bellied

Hello birders,
I had a very brief look at a fairly fast moving Raptor flying SSW over the
Sparrow field this morning at roughly 9:45am. Not a positive ID but it had
all the right characteristics of a Mississippi Kite. Best err on the side
of caution but keep an eye open along the lake shore areas

Yesterday I had a Mourning and Canada warblers at the spit. Both were located
skulking in the swampy area surrounding the clump of poplars 50 m west of the
parking lot, up against the Unwin street fence.

Shorebird spectacle here at Hillman. Many hendersoni Short-billed Dowitchers,
Ruddy Turnstones, Semipalmated Plovers, Dublin, 1 White-rumped Sandpiper,
Lesser Yellowlegs.
There is an invisible force that flushes everything now and again so no
guarantees on what will be here.

Festival of Flight; Good number and mix of birds in the park. Best numbers
being seen on South Point Trail. Canada and Mourning Warbler, several
Vireos species and some Gnatcatchers. Least Flycatchers common and many
other flycatchers observed as well. The Prothonotary continues on Tulip

After yesterday's warm temperatures winds shifted to the north and it is
decidedly cooler in the Park this morning, but the birding continues to be very
good. A total of 25 species of warblers were reported this morning.

There were 11 Dunlin in the wet field where Jeff Skevington reported the Willet
yesterday. This wet field is located on the south side of Highway 3
approximatel 30 minutes from Point Pelee National Park.
There was also a Pectoral Sandpiper and Semi-palmated Plover.
