The American avocet that was found yesterday by Justin White and reported by
Mark Read was still present this morning at 9:30. When I first found it, it was
in the NW corner of the marsh, only visible from the berm trail that parallels
the western edge of Second Marsh.

This afternoon at approximately 2:05 I found a White-eyed vireo on the east
side of the Darlington Nuclear Trail. The bird stayed low (10-15ft) for a full
3-4 minutes while it fed on midges, which allowed me to enjoy some crippling
looks. I could clearly see its yellow spectacles and flanks and

This afternoon at approximately 1:30 (from the Berm Trail), I observed a
cave swallow flying out over Harmony Creek and the marsh for several minutes.
The bird was in the SW corner of the marsh about 100m north of the lake. It was

This morning at 9:05 on a walk through Westside Marsh in Bowmanville I spotted
a Loggerhead Shrike just to the west of the main parking lot. It flew right in
front of my son and I and perched about 15m away on top of a low bush.
We continued to observe it for about 5 mins while it moved on to

showing well while scrounging for food on the mudflats to the south west from
7:50 to 8:00 pm.
The only way to access the east platform is from Lynde Shores on Victoria Rd.
