Earlier today I was asked to review and approve a post about proposed
hunting of Double-crested Cormorants. I could have suggested that the
post be rephrased in a more neutral information only format. I did not.
Regardless, Ontbirds is a very large list that has Posting Guidelines

For the most part Ontbirds works just fine. But every so often (mostly
spring and fall) I feel obliged to remind readers about our posting
guidelines, guidelines intended to keep Ontbirds focused on running
smoothly.

birders feel strongly enough about posting guidelines to take the time
write the coordinator to raise concern.

Across the province birds are actively migrating and being observed in a
variety of different situations. This is an exciting time of year to be
out and reporting from the field.

I guess it is time for some of our regular and potential contributors to
review our posting guidelines. A link to the Ontario Field

Current posts commenting on a photographed Barn Owl are inappropriate
for Ontbirds.
I repeat on birds is not a discussion list. It is for list for reporting
birds period. All other posts should be reviewed by the list
coordinator before being sent to the list.
