All Ontario birders appreciate your efforts in trying to help people see
this rarity, even the ones who won't see it, because we respect the wishes
of the homeowner. (We were planning on coming Saturday - cancelled) The
people who transgress these very common sense rules about invasion of

Please note that as of this evening, I am signing off and that this will be
my final update on the status of Ottawa's Lazuli Bunting.
Unfortunately, birders have continued to step over the boundaries that I
have worked so carefully with Denise to establish. Today's
Ontbirds subscribers:
On Monday, February 4th, the Lazuli Bunting showed well, visited a small
copper-topped millet feeder at Denise's neighbour's place (the neighbour to
the N) throughout much of the day yesterday. Millet seed mix has also been
placed on the trail just N of the neighbour's

I just received a text from Denise Smith; she shared an image of birders
lingering directly behind her yard this morning. In talking with her, I
came to realize that she has switched her tune and it's just about
the beginning of the end. The incident this morning appears to

I'm not sure of the level of birder coverage today, but, sadly, there were
no reports of the LAZB. Hopeful thinking here, but, who knows...it could
still be in the neighbourhood!

No reports of the LAZB yesterday (January 31st) and none so far today
(February 1). Birders are considering that the bird could be visiting
another feeder in the area; hard to say for sure, of course. I will post
here immediately if the bird is refound. I will also post one

To my knowledge, there has been a steady flow of visiting birders to the
LAZB site since the crack of dawn. No reports today, so far.

The LAZB continues at the feeder. Seen at 8:20 AM by a large number of
birders. Just a heads up that I will be providing regular updates to this
listserve until Friday evening. Busy this weekend, so it’s over to others
at that point (ie meaning I won’t be able to answer

The bird was last seen at 12:30 PM today. No updates since then, at least
that I am aware of. Additionally, I recently heard from Jeff Skevington
that he had chatted with the neighbour next door to Denise's property. This
neighbour is fine to have people stand next to his
