its completely bizarre isnt it
when i open it from spotlight or from finder it opens fine, full
screen and everything
this only happens when i open it with a quicksilver trigger
is there anyway to reset quicsilver history or cache or something?
or anything else i could try?

There're two cache files,
~/Library/Cache/Quicksilver
~/Library/Cache/com.blacktree.Quicksilver
The triggers plist is at
~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/triggers.plist
You'll lose all you triggers deleting this so you may want to move it
to your desktop so you can move it back if

I notice that you only mention Firefox and Thunderbird. Does this
happen with any other applications? I ask because if it is just these
two, then it is possible that we are dealing with something specific
to Mozilla apps.

I've never seen this happen, and I can't make any sense out of it.
Quicksilver's Open action simply tells an app to launch; it doesn't
tell it what to do or how to arrange windows or anything else, so I am
not sure how or why this is happening to you. What happens if, say,
you start Thunderbird
I've never heard of this happening with Quicksilver either.
