I use McAfeewith JAWS 10.00.
It takes a little work with the JAWS cursor but it is doable.
I am not computer savvy and use the automatic updates.

One last question, (I hope) once I delete the entries in the registry

pointers are that it's listed in the control panel, sounds and audio devices
settings dialogue on the sounds page, and is generally in the
c:\windows\media folder and called:
