[Blind-Computing] Open Book

I've downloaded the Open Book version 9 to give it a trial. I click on run as demo mode but it then says read only mode. When I change any settings, such as speech rate, they won't stay. When I go to scan a page, it starts to scan then says page blank. Does anyone know if running as a trial it is
