I'd think the optical way is more precise since the shaft will be turning faster and faster the more tape you pull out, just like a standard tape. Point is, it doesn't reely seem it's worth the money. Matthys.

None that I know of. Replace the pipes, it's easey enough. cut them where the cracs stop, and use two pvc joins, a little sleave that fits around the pipe, and pvc cement or pvc glue, adding two peaces of new pipes for the cracked part. Leave for about 12 hours before allowing water to flow
