Re: Wine?
I've created a Windows10 VM and the GUI says it starts. It doesn't seem to capture my keystrokes. Typing Windows+R then narrator brings up some search box in Ubuntu. The Windows install may want a valid license (which I don't have anyway), but I can't tell. What next? On 05/18/2017 06:38 AM, Linux for blind general discussion wrote: Tony Baechler. Try something like this: qemu-system-x86_64 -curses -enable-kvm -soundhw all -m 1G -boot d -cdrom bats64*.iso Make sure the above is all on one line. You probably need to load the kvm kernel module first: modprobe kvm_intel modprobe kvm To get the BATS64 CD, go here: http://iavit.org/~bats/ As always, read the Qemu manual for full docs on the command line switches. Obviously, using -curses won't help when installing Windows. I think you have to do that from the GUI, but I'm not sure. I can't help beyond that. Some people like VirtualBox better. It's a matter of preference, but it doesn't have the curses option. On 5/18/2017 4:08 AM, Linux for blind general discussion wrote: How would I work with virtualization in arch Linux? Re: Wine?
Howdy, I dont know about ubuntu and if they package python-tesserwrap. But you can install python modules by using pip (the python package manager). That one schould be available in every distribution. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pip_(package_manager) OCRdesktop is written in python 3 so you need the dependencys for 3.x not 2.x. After install pip you can install tesserwrap with sudo pip install tesserwrap Or explicit for python 3: sudo pip3 install tesserwrap Cheers Chrys Am Freitag 19. Tony Baechler. It looks like you want qemu from extra. Use the -curses switch. How would I work with virtualization in arch Linux? I am interested in this. On May 18, 2017 6:03:18 AM Linux for blind general discussion wrote: Tony Baechler here. Periodically, there is discussion on this. People want to run Windows programs and have the same problem as you. The general conclusion is sound-based games usually work if they are self-voicing, but that's about it. Realize it's only emulating Windows, it's not a full Windows OS. It doesn't have the hooks to run screen readers etc. I played with it once and got nowhere. The portable NVDA might work, but I don't think you can load programs in memory. I think it just runs the .exe and exits. If you have a modern CPU, you probably have hardware virtualization support. Install KVM (qemu-kvm on Debian and Ubuntu) and set up Windows virtually. If you already have a working install, it might work in the virtual machine. Usually it's safer to do a fresh install. There is also VirtualBox. That's an exercise for the reader and is itself another long discussion. In other words, I don't know the specifics, but I know people have done it. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer.
