Hi,
Creating an RSS feed for each topic it could be interesting. For
instance, in launchpad.net you have an option when you open a bug that
says: subscribe to this item (or something similar). When you click
there, you get e-mail updates each time some one updates the bug or
adds a new comment. Th
David, I've checked what you said for the CPDN beta, boinc_dev and Seti
message boards which are all recent versions.
The RSS feed seems to be available for forum/message board *sections* (not
the entire forum). I cannot see how to get RSS for an individual thread on
any of these forums. If I open
The BOINC message boards are available as RSS feeds
at either the forum or thread level.
Feel free to use these feeds.

Hi Daniel
I'm sure an RSS feed for Boinc forum threads would be a good idea but this
depends on what the Boinc programmers think.
With regard to the CPDN news I've been in contact with the project
programmer-admins about this. Milo thinks it would be a good idea if one of

Hi Maureen,
Thanks for the information, the problem is that those links do not
export the news via RSS. The planet can aggregate anything that is
published under RSS, so it could be interesting to study publishing
specific forum topics of BOINC via RSS. What do you think?
Daniel
PS: Thanks again
Hola Daniel
I see you're getting CPDN news from the main page of the project website.
There are many more news items and announcements in the two (usually
identical) forum news threads:
on the independent forum here:

and on the
No amount of aggregating, nor any number of aggregation sites to browse,
won't help if project admins won't play their part by posting news in a
timely and accessible fashion.
I was about to cite Orbit as a valuable project I would like to devote more
time to, but which seemed to have fallen of
All the raised points are interesting for the community. Some of them
were also raised in the last Pangalactic (topics related to improve
the GUI of BOINC and extend its features). Thus, some of them could be
studied and try to improve BOINC. At the end the users are one of the
key factors of volun

I didn't mean to imply that BOINC is completely lacking these things,
BOINC has an amazing list of features, but they do tend to feel
disconnected & the UI feels a bit outdated.
The comments from the survey results are specifically what I am
talking about, things like not having automatic updates.
A wonderful example of the "multiple community" problem has just presented
itself.
David, minor broken link on the BOINC website - but I've written my comment
in

to highlight this issue too.

I think you've possibly created a lot of little communities,
Can you be more specific?
We've spent the last several years trying to make
the software more accessible/usable,
and adding social/community features.
We've made lots of progress in both areas.
What have we missed?

That list has several good points. In my short time using BOINC, I would say
the following are most important (or perhaps most obvious) to me:
* Making the software (both client & server) more accessible/usable. This
single topic addresses/summarizes several of the technical issues listed.
* Buil
