I have 3, one finally had its display go out (but otherwise worked). I'd say the "unstable" part is not fair. My booms have simply worked daily year after year with no intervention. I've had them since they came out, so that must be maybe 12 years or more? *Home:* VBA 4TB (2.5)>LMS 7.9.2>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4)>LMS 7.9.1>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (ethernet, Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>LMS 7.9.2>Squeezelite *The Wild (no internet): *PiCorePlayer 4.0 on rPi 3B+, hifiberry Dac+Pro, 4TB USB (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpa > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110803 ___ Boom mailing list Boom@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom
Re: [SlimDevices: Boom] I believe I accidentally changed the IP address of one of my Booms.....
You should be able to go through network setup in your Boom and either set it to use DHCP (automatic IP from your router) or assign manual IP. If you do manual IP, you'll enter something like IP ADDRESS: 192.168.001.027 (where the 1.27 could be anything on your network that is available. Some routers use 192.168.1.xxx and some use 192.168.0.xxx among other possibilities. SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0 GATEWAY: 192.168.001.001 (this is the IP address of your router) DNS: 192.168.001.001 (address of router) or 8.8.8.8 (google DNS) or 8.8.4.4 (google DNS) In your network, only the IP address will differ between items. Subnet mask, gateway, and DNS will be the same for everything on your network. *Home:* VBA 4TB (2.5)>LMS 7.9.2>Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4)>LMS 7.9.1>Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (ethernet, Radio WIFI) *Office:* Win10(64)>LMS 7.9.2>Squeezelite *The Wild (no internet): *PiCorePlayer 4.0 on rPi 3B+, hifiberry Dac+Pro, 4TB USB (LMS & Squeezelite) *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpa > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111340 ___ Boom mailing list Boom@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom

Beautiful work! I like the Grundigs too! p.s. My house is full of Squeezebox players and antique radios too. Re: [SlimDevices: Boom] Is Boom speaker deterioration inevitable ?
Never had the speaker issue (but then again 99% of my boom listening is as bedside player feeding headphones. Speaker rarely used. But I did finally have one boom bite the dust this weekend in terms of Display. Display is blank no matter what. Did all sorts of resets, xlinx, messed with display options, etc. These displays do seem to have an end-of-life. Everything else works, but not useful as I need to control things from the Boom at bedside. This boom was my oldest. Maybe 10 years old (purchased when initially released). I've had display on 24/7 for 8 years of that time. In recent years I've used "blanksaver" to go blank when not using. edit: and I've switched out that boom for another almost new boom I purchased via ebay a few of years ago. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.4) > LMS 7.9.1 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.4) > LMS 7.9.1 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win8(64) > LMS 7.9.1 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Transporter, Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win10(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107832 ___ Boom mailing list Boom@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom
