My house electrical ground is on the opposite side of the house from my shack. I put 8' ground rods about every 8 feet, and tied 'em all together with 6 AWG solid copper wire. That was a lot of work, and I did it over time. (Check YouTube for "water drill," which saved me a lot of

This is also a National Electrical Code requirement ( That all ground rods be bonded together ) which could result in an insurance denial of claim in event someone smart enough to see that they weren’t. Not likely but possible. Robert From: BVARC On Behalf Of Robert Polinski via BVARC Sent:

Terry, A ground loop exists if there is a large amount of wire hanging in the air acting as an antenna to which the ground is the counterpoise. You should run #8 Stranded Bare Copper Wire (75' is about $30 at Wirenco) either in the ground or buried about 2 inches below the grass (like you can do

The reason to bond the 2 systems together is to eliminate any potential difference between them. All grounding systems have resistance. If you pound a ground rod into the earth and attach an extension cord hot wire to it, it will not blow a 15 amp breaker! If your AC ground has say a 25ohm
