[BVARC] 10-10 Contest this weekend

2024-02-02 Thread Allen Brier via BVARC
All,

The Winter 10-10 contest is this weekend. Please feel free to join in even
if you don't have a 10-10 number. The purpose of the 10-10 organization
(www.ten-ten.org ) is to promote activity on 10
meters.

The Houston Shot Chapter will be having special nets tonight at 8pm on
28.488. I'll be net control (note that I have some sort of loose connection
on my antenna when turning so response may be slower than usual). Please
join us to promote more local activity and to boost the scores of our local
members.

The contest starts at 6pm and lasts until Sunday at 6pm. You would be
surprised how much additional activity this can bring to 10 meters. Please
look for all of the local members and give us a call! All you need to give
is as an exchange is your call, name, state and 10-10 number if you have
one. Contacts with other 10-10 members is worth 2 points; contacts with
stations without 10-10 numbers is worth 1 point.

I have N1MM+ set up to log, dupe and score this contest. If anyone needs
assistance with N1MM+, send me a text message and I'll get back with you.

[BVARC] 10-10 Contest this weekend

2023-08-04 Thread Allen Brier via BVARC
Hi all!

The 10-10 contest starts at Z tonight and lasts just about a full 48
hours (propagation dependent of course!). Please look for me mostly between
28375 and 28425 but I'll be all over the band. We also have an informal net
at 8pm on both Friday and Saturday nights on 28.488 for locals to work each
other. Hope to see some of you there!

Allen,
god willing I will pass my general today, receive my radio, and build my
antenna, you will be my first qso maybe. since I am clueless I will start
with a WRC antenna, and then set up a 20m dipole, should a 20m dipole in
some config either inverted, horizontal, or delta upside down or normal
work on 10 meter also locally? I have way too many questions and the more
answers I get the more questions I have.

[BVARC] 10-10 Contest this weekend

2023-02-03 Thread Allen Brier via BVARC
Hello TDXSers and BVARCers.

This weekend is the Winter 10-10 Phone Contest. It starts at 6pm today and
ends 6pm Sunday. I plan to go for my 22nd win and would appreciate contacts
from all of you. I will be all over the band, primarily from 28.375 to
28.500 during the weekend. Tonight and tomorrow night, we will hold a
special Houston SHOT net at 8pm on 28.488 to make local QSOs easier. If the
band is still open (and it has happened in the past) we will postpone the
net one hour at a time until the band is closed.

The contest exchange is Name, State and 10-10 number if you have one, but if
you don't, I still want to work you because you are still worth points! It's
a great way to promote activity on 10 meters also!

As of this email, the SFI is 135, A is 6 and the K is 3. That means pretty
good conditions, average absorption and fairly low band noise.

I hope to work as many of you as possible and good luck in the contest! If
you have directional antennas, point them to Richmond! Oh and if you hear
me, spot me on the DX Cluster!

73!

[BVARC] 10-10 Contest THIS WEEKEND!

2018-02-02 Thread Allen Brier N5XZ via BVARC
Once again the 10-10 Contest is THIS WEEKEND!

While we don't expect band conditions to be great, all of us in the local
Houston SHOT 10-10 Chapter would appreciate your contacts to help our score.
We will (as always) hold special nets for locals at 8pm, both Friday and
Saturday night on 28.488. if you have a rotatable antenna, I live in
Richmond and Mike, N5MT will either be transmitting from his home near the
Astrodome or from Pat's KJ5Y remote down south of town. We would appreciate
your contacts.

If you are a member, please be sure your dues are paid up so you can credit
the local chapter.

If you are not a member, you can most likely collect enough numbers on
Friday night to be able to submit your application to www.10-10.org
and get your number by Saturday. We have done this
many times in the past.

So I hope to see many of you this weekend (between the other contests) and
good luck to everyone!

[BVARC] 10-10 contest this weekend

2017-02-04 Thread Allen Brier N5XZ via BVARC
Look for us!

Special net 28.488 at 8pm. Remember, the purpose of the 10-10 organization
and the 10-10 contest is to promote activity on 10 meters. At this time in
the sunspot cycle and with such deplorable band conditions, we could sure
use your help.

Please feel free to repost this on other reflectors.
