Did anyone else call this excellent dance on Saturday? I called it in Richmond,
Virginia.
April Blum here. I will happily join the organizers group if you can point me
in the right direction. On Jun 24, 2017 4:13 PM, Chris Weiler via Callers

I was given this dance years ago, but failed to note who wrote it.

A2. With Crnt Nbr Allm Rt 0.75. With Nxt Nbr (along the line) Allm Lft 1.0.
With Crnt Nbr Allm Rt 0.75. Men pull by Lft
B1. B P
B2. R thru, Circ
As you know, contra dancers on this side of the pond have little or no patience
for dances without at least a partner swing. In fact I hear complaints if there
are too many dances in an evening that don't also include a neighbor swing.
Dances like Illegal in Most States, with a neighbor,

I believe that at some point in every dance, you and your partner are on the
same side, usually swinging, so from that perspective all dances can start in
Becket, just depends on where you decide A1 is. So I would not find dances that
begin in Becket a useful category.
I do collect dances

Two more suggestions. At some dances I have called, I found that saying "end
the swing and face across" a bit early solved the late-for-the-next move
issues. And sometimes repeatedly cuing at B1, where the music is often audibly
different AND where there is often some noticeable move starting,
You want to avoid letting him pair up with a new dancer, so you might indeed
want to have a confidential chat with the regular ladies who are also good
leads, and see if they are willing to take turns dancing with him.
Some techniques for his partners: Walk the swing and stop early to face in.
I recall dancing one called Doublin Back. And I have written one called Doublin
Dublin.

I calling the Baltimore contra on Wednesday.
Vote With Your Feet of course.
Others I am considering are:
Take All of the Credit and None of the Blame
The Eyes Have It
Illegal in Most States
Not a Figment of Your Imagination
Rocks and Dirt
In Cahoots
Chaos Pie
Blueshift
The Dancer's Duty
I remind people to thank their shadow, if appropriate.

I love Robert Cromartie's "Illegal in Most States" and whenever I call it at
least one person comes up afterwards to say it was a wonderful dance.

I called it in Baltimore last Wednesday. It's helpful to tell the ladies that
the first chain is to a shadow.
