Here is my process for uploading foci from an excel sheet, step by step:
Creation of my excel spreadsheet for coordinates:
CSVF_FILE 0
csvf-secton-start header 2
Caret-Version 5.616

encoding COMMA_SEPARATED_VALUE_FILE

Also, if you have not yet projected the foci, they will not be visible unless a
'fiducial' surface is displayed in the main window.
