Among current instruments, please do add:
Long Wavelength Array Sevilleta (ROACH2) and VLA North Arm (SNAP-2) sites
(LWA/SV, LWA/NA).
LEDA is a past instrument. I decommissioned it in Feb. 2020. (ROACH2 &
ADC16-250/RJ45)
Cosmic Dawn Telescope pathfinder (CDT-pathfinder) is in development.
Andrea,
As a laggard myself, I second Mitch's expression of thanks and apology.

bit. And, I apologize for the folks like me who wait until the very last minute
possible.

Hi Gareth,
Jack, Jonathon, Nima, and I have been discussing a low-cost board to serve the
N>1000 space, w/ digitization at the antenna (2 ch; ≤ 500 GS/s; ≥ 12 bits; SOC;
low power; 10 GbE out). Do the above parameters overlap what you'd like to see,
and do you have a price point in mind?
Hi Lin,
If I remember correctly, achieving line rate on both channels when fed from a
single switch required some networking workarounds. Though solved, in the end
LEDA chose to use a single channel 40 GbE so that we could simplify the system.
CPU usage was also reduced by this selection.
John - Mellanox hides this information in the back of their manuals in my
experience. Best to download.

Hi John,
Email is passing in the ether.
I have eyed the SX1035 and SX1036
w/ upgrades in mind. What is your
understanding of the difference?

Hi Kris,
Mellanox's 40-gE SX10## series (expandable to 56 Gb/s) has
worked for LEDA w/ no pain. Does you app. preclude using
twice as many links of 56 Gb/s?

Hi Rich,
On a related topic, we lost one SFP+ port on a board after it had been running
for O(1) month. We replaced it w/ another board. The same port was dead on the
new mezz. board pointing to the problem being w/ the ROACH2 board.

In field deployment of the LEDA
correlator over the last week,
we encountered significant difficulty
stacking our 16 ROACH2s (rev2) in 16U.
We measured the ROACH2 enclosure
dimensions and found that they are not
to EIA specification:
1U == 1.75 = 44.45 mm
1U frontplate = 44.45 mm
1U chassis =
Hi David,
I agree, this would be very interesting to have in hand. I had previously asked
Steve Ord about sampler cards for PCIe transfer, to mate with our GPU X-engine
and learned the following:

Hi John,
Mark Wagner has worked on a design that we will take to the
DSN 70m in Canberra:
2 basebands 400 MHz 16384 channels running on one ROACH.
This was based on a 1M channel design. He would be a good
contact, in particular about the level of optimization
and available real estate.
