Nothing rare or extraordinary but last night it was warm enough to
have the window open and for about 15 minutes around 10:30 pm. we
distinctly heard a screech owl working the nearby woods.
Today we saw two white-throated sparrows in the garden and at the
birdbath. We've been hearing Robins and

gull that I take to be a Ring-billed? Gull [3rd? winter] with unusually dark
streaking around the neck, seen from Towpath at Puddler's Marsh, Oct. 18. The

Nine birders joined me on 10/20 for a trip up the lake. The trip was
supposed to be until 1:00, but because no one had time restraints, we
decided to go all the way up the lake to Knox-Marcellus to see the Greater

I have been reading all your messages about Rufous Hummers.
I live on Wyers Point Road on Cayuga Lake about 1 mile north of Sheldrake
Point and about 3 + miles from my good friend, Marty Schlabach. On Sunday,
Sept. 16 , a beautiful day, I sat on the front porch with my bi
Rufous Hummingbird was easily seen late morning today. It was coming into
the feeder every15 minutes or so.
Also seemed to be sitting in the cherry tree.

At least four (and three Cackling) at Knox-Marsellus, currently best viewed
from East Road. Also 19 cranes, one Stilt Sandpiper, 42 Dunlin, one
American Golden-Plover and nine Black-bellied Plovers, and Fox Sparrow and
American Tree Sparrow on Towpath Road. A single LAPLAND LONGSPUR and a Snow
Bunt
Out walking my dog at 8:00AM, I heard a Dickcissel overhead. It gave about six
flight calls between detection well to the north and passing out of range to
the south.
