Hi
There is a Snowy Owl on private property on Miller Rd, just north of Coddington
Rd. today. This bird first showed up the week before Thanksgiving and is back
today. The owners are ok with visitors but please contact me off list for

Birding with Jim Tarolli, first stop was the Rte 31 mucklands where many
(~1500) gulls were present, about 50-50 Herring and Ring-billed. We found a

ie, few Canadas and no Snows. Little species diversity in the

I neglected to mention 20-30 Sandhill Cranes at the west end of the mucks,
difficult to see. Apologies to the cranes.

Several years of stakeouts finally paid off when I got a good look at a
SHORT-EARED OWL (very light underside, buffy patches prominent on distal
parts of upper wing) cruising over a field along Hart Rd. (Town of Dryden).
Field was just across the road from the gravel pit and near the George Jr.
I went up the lake today as I missed the Snowy Owl cocktail party
Friday afternoon in the mucklands, but held out hope they would still be there.
After much scanning I did find one Snowy Owl sitting in the corn at the far
north side of the fields about center. It was partially hidden
The very successful Cayuga Bird Club field trip to Niagara Falls today started
and ended notably with owls in the Basin.
Just after dawn at 7:00 am, we passed through King Ferry going north on 90, and
I remarked that we were entering one of the best areas in the Basin for
Short-eared Owls.
Hi All,
The last Snowy Owl was precisely here (green arrow):

Joann and I made a late trip to Montezuma. The main pool drive was open
so we drove it hoping to find something white on one of the dozens of
muskrat houses with no luck. 1 No. Harrier hunted the marsh and the pair of
Bald Eagles were sitting together on the edge of woods near their nest.
I found the lone Snowy about 3:45 p.m. right where Gary saw it, confirmed
by Kathy Strickland my daughter, Becky. I saw it first from the first
driveway to the dike next to the muck on the east end. I drove to the potato
bldg. where we still saw it but lighting was poor it was too far away to
