This morning I watched a female Hairy Woodpecker hop from the deck railing
to the hummingbird feeder and take several long drinks of syrup. In years

The N. Shrike I reported being in my yard last week showed up a short
distance from my house on Comfort Road this afternoon. It was actively
hunting in the fields on the west side of Comfort Road about ΒΌ mile south of
W. Miller Road. Old bluebird houses made an excellent vantage point for it.

bird feeders. What a surprise. A few larger birds didn't seem to be
bothered by its presence but there weren't any little birds to be seen.

feeders. After feeding, they hung out in the top of an ash tree for a
while. No sign of them now at 12:30. We also had varying numbers of Pine

to, I realized no one has reported a house wren yet. I had one arrive the
morning of April 16. He has been singing around his territory since then.
