Lake: brownish overall, longer and bulkier than the two Surf Scoters it is
associating with, pale area on face at base of dark bill, and white patch on
wings visible during preening. I hope others check it out.
Cheers,
Daughter, Becky, & I were at Oswego yesterday (Sat.) afternoon & again
saw the King eider, red-throated loon, dozens of white-winged scoters &
long-tailed ducks, as well as the usual ducks & gulls. Also being seen
in winter plumage was the male horned grebe which Kathy Strickland & I

Gordon Carol I arrived at Myers about 11am. We first looked from the lighthouse without success. Then from the south side of the marina I found the KING EIDER, but it took awhile. The scope made it possible -- Gordon said he couldn't find it with binoculars -- but it took me multiple scans.
I just had a call from Mike Ackley (spelling?), reporting the male King
Eider today at the same place as yesterday: south of the marina.
