[cayugabirds-l] Christmas Bird Count Ithaca
Hello everyone, Just a reminder and a plea. Our count is coming up fast. January One is right around the corner. We still need counters in all areas for good results and for the satisfaction gained by having our whole wonderful birding community joining together in a common purpose. Please email me if you are even just wavering on the brink of even considering doing this this year. Hope to hear from you Linda Sent from my iPhone -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES Archives: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in Ovid
I just got pictures from my aunt whose neighbor has had a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker visiting her feeders in Ovid. I'm not sure the date of the last sighting, but the bird has been regular and was at this person's feeders last winter too. I'm not sure what count circle Ovid falls in, but if this bird is of interest for the CBC, I can get more details. [cayugabirds-l] some waterfowl lurking
The shooting has moved north, and I'm pleased to see about 200 Redheads, approximately 50 Canvasbacks, 4 Tundra Swans, as well as Canadas and Mallards intermixed in front of my house. The raft has been tightly packed and the waters rough from the wind, so somewhat hard to count and see other less obvious species at the moment (just north of Hog Hole). There was a gathering of birds at dawn on the ice edge of Treman Marina park, the light was too bad to identify, but apparently the lawn chair crowd was elsewhere this morning. Re: [cayugabirds-l] Cayuga Basin boundaries
Jennings Pond is most definitely (entirely) within the Cayuga basin, whether you mean the physical drainage basin or the arbitrarily "adjusted" basin as presented first in THE FLORA OF THE CAYUGA LAKE BASIN by Karl Wiegand and Arthur Eames, Cornell University, 1924. You can find an image of the original Wiegand and Eames map on the Cayuga Bird Club website at this link: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/cayugabirdclub/firstrecords.htm -Geo On Dec 29, 2009, at 8:42 AM, Kathy & Dan C. wrote: Is there a map showing the boundaries for birding in the Cayuga Basin?
