Four Black Terns flew over the Mays Point Pool this afternoon about 2pm
while Bud and I were watching a female Wood Duck herd 8 ducklings through
the weeds. Gorgeous, even in lousy weather!
At Montezuma's visitor center we were skunked by the Godwit, which probably
had more sense than we did
On Sunday morning, I took a detour on the way to a midday family gathering in
Trumansburg, in hopes of finding the Hudsonian Godwit and other birds. Many
others and I failed to find the godwit by the visitor center between 10:00 and
10:45 AM. Here are some birds of interest found en route:

This morning, 7:15, Ann Mitchell and I were at Montezuma to finally find the
Hudsonian Godwit in the same area as has been reported. Unfortunately for Dave
and Susan it also was able to pull the disappearing act that frustrated Susan

I saw a few interesting birds at Myers Point in Lansing this morning.
A few shorebirds included Semipalmated Plover (2) and a flyby Dunlin.

been an adult Arctic Tern that I watched pass from south to north

For a morning update - the godwit is still present at the Montezuma
NWR visitor center as of 7:24, reported by Gary Kohlenberg. Last
night a Wilson's Phalarope dropped in next to the godwit briefly
before both birds took off. It sounds like at least the godwit came
back; perhaps the phalarope is
