[cayugabirds-l] Mt Pleasant Snow Buntings/Horned Larks
Up on the hill for my exercise walk this morning between 10:45 and 11:45, I saw a flock of 20-ish Snow Buntings at the eastern end of Mt Pleasant Rd. And at three different spots between there and the observatory I found individual Horned Larks, most likely the vanguard of those that typically show up in mid-February to take possession of small patches of open ground and start their flight songs on high, gearing up for breeding. I have a feeling that, come tomorrow, they may regret their decision to get here early! [cayugabirds-l] Fw: Tufted Duck, Oswego Harbor
*Subject: Tufted Duck* Date: Thu Feb 7 2013 11:27 am From: wpurcell AT twcny.rr.com Just got a call from Andrew Van Norstrand and he described a bird that sounds spot on for female Tufted Duck in Oswego. He was viewing the bird from the bluff above Wright's Landing on the west side of the river. Bill Purcell wpurc...@twcny.rr.com Also, Wayne Fidler posted some photos of a bird that looks good for a Redhead x Ring-necked hybrid from the same area, so anyone looking for the Tufted should keep and eye out for that bird and try to get more photos. -Jay -- Jay McGowan Macaulay Library Cornell Lab of Ornithology jw...@cornell.edu -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] redpolls
I know I'm late to the party, but we FINALLY had our first flock of about 25 REDPOLLS drop in at our feeder in Eastern Heights this morning, if only for a few seconds.
