[cayugabirds-l] Mt Pleasant Horned Larks

2015-12-31 Thread Lauren DeGennaro
12/31 - Just went to go see the Horned Larks. Saw about 25+ flitting
between the fields on both sides of the road, near the end of Mt. Pleasant
(at the junction to Mineah Road). Nice views of the ones that landed on the
road near the car!

[cayugabirds-l] Snow Geese Dryden

2015-12-31 Thread Carl Steckler
As I crept up to the fence in a neighbors back yard to photograph the
Snow Geese in the field on Simms Hill Rd. here in Dryden I spooked a
couple of Canadian Geese next to the fence. They spooked the entire
flock, which I would estimate at around 500 mixed Canadas and Snows.
They flew West, not returning. Since I can see the fields from my living
room I will keep track and post if they return.

[cayugabirds-l] Mt Pleasant Horned Larks

2015-12-31 Thread Marie P. Read
Hi all,

The local flock of Horned Larks is currently visible in the corn-stubble field
on the south side of Mt Pleasant Road (east end). I estimated around 20 earlier
this morning, but I know there are more. Thinking of tomorrows' bird count, I
wonder if "a bunch" would be a valid number?? ;-)

Have fun and good counting tomorrow!
Happy New Year to all.

Marie
