[cayugabirds-l] Wilson's Snipe & American Bittern

While searching for tagged Tree Swallows this afternoon, I bumped into
Derek Green out at Michigan Hollow Marsh who alerted me to an American
Bittern right by the road and I was not disappointed. I watched the bird
forage from about 20 yards away for 15 minutes.

I then checked the field right at the end of Michigan Hollow Rd and heard a
Wilson's Snipe calling in the marshy area to the north and then observed
another one flying towards that same marsh as well.

Was not able to located the Gallinule.

I also saw a dozen Wood Ducks.

Quite a good day!

Re: [cayugabirds-l] Osprey on nest, briefly

I walked around Renwick woods earlier in the afternoon yesterday (April 25) and 
watched that nest for about 15 min yesterday around 1:30pm.  I saw the one 
osprey land on the nest briefly and then fly away when the second one 
approached.  This interaction was repeated at least 5 times within the 15 
minutes I watched.  Once the first osprey sat on the nest calling loudly for 
about 2 minutes before the second osprey came and they both flew off.

[cayugabirds-l] Looking for writer's retreat

I am working on several art and writing projects and am looking for a place
to do writing retreats.  Ideally, it would have any of the following:

--I can pay rent or do pet-sitting (I love dogs/cats)
--location (nearby, in the U.S. or in a Spanish-speaking country)
--birding/hiking opportunity
--quiet location (no noisy neighbors)
--reliable electricity/wifi
--could be for several weeks or months (now-September)
--could be in winter (January-May)
