[cayugabirds-l] Black-capped Chickadee
David et al, Every spring and fall we encounter/band several chickadees with varying degrees of white in their heads. Some show strong white areas and could be described as partially leucistic while most simply present with small white spots. This is particularly noticeable right after a recent molt. Same is often true for juncos with white spots appearing in the eye ring and head. [cayugabirds-l] many Tree Swallows, east side of jetties
Today (23 March) there were many TREE SWALLOWS foraging low over Fall Creek's outflow into Cayuga Lake. I could not discern any other swallow species. There were fewer TREE SWALLOWS to be seen over Cayuga Inlet looking north from the Farmers' Market. My eye was distracted by motion in vegetation on the shore opposite me, and I scoped an EASTERN PHOEBE working its way north one perch at a time - a good office bird. --Dave Nutter -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html 3) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
