[cayugabirds-l] FW: eBird Report - Sapsucker Woods, CLO , 9/20/10
Good morning, I walked the northern part of the Wilson trail this morning for about 40 minutes. Lots of chickadees, goldfinches, titmice, catbirds, but only one small flock of migrants which I found on the west side of the pond near the white barn. Included in that group was a RUBY CROWNED KINGLET, NASHVILLE WARBLER and COMMON YELLOWTHOAT. Under the feeders on the north side of the Lab of O are many SONG SPARROWS.\ While not a great diversity of birds, there lots of individuals which made for nice birding. Below is my ebird report. The numbers of each species represent a minimum. Laura Laura Stenzler Lab Manager Evolutionary Biology Program Cornell Lab of Ornithology 159 Sapsucker Woods Rd. [cayugabirds-l] Osprey-Beebe Lk
Watched an osprey take off from Beebe Lake about 10:45 AM today, with a small fish in its talons. It circled a few times, then flew off to the south. Meanwhile, two kingfishers were pursuing each other, sometimes right below the osprey. About 20 minutes later, another, or maybe the same osprey appeared, slowly circling and hovering above the lake as it moved from west to east. Very nice! [cayugabirds-l] Sapsucker Woods Raven
Hi all, I took another walk through Sapsucker Woods between 1:30 and 2:30. There are lots of warblers out there, in small, fast moving, high flocks. I was able to identify BLACKBURNIAN, BLACKPOLL, NASHVILLE and BAYBREASTED Warblers. There were others moving about, but I didn't get good looks at them. Then I was pleasantly surprised to hear and then see a RAVEN , which circled over the woods 5 or 6 times while calling. [cayugabirds-l] Lincoln Sparrow?
Hi Everyone, I woke up early today and with Dave's report, I thought I'd try Montezuma. I didn't find any Warblers on the drive except Common Yellow Throat, but if I'm correct, I think I found a Lincoln's Sparrow which gave me a quick look and was gone. http://www.dianawhitingphotography.com/Galleries/Birds/Passerines/12959449_nvru5#1015487775_FyZGo http://www.dianawhitingphotography.com/Galleries/Birds/Passerines/12959449_nvru5#1015510354_fRQdF The Peregrine made a pass over the shorebird area which was very empty on the roadside except some Killdeer. One Northern Harrier was hunting way out. The Greylag Goose continues to hang with the Canada Geese. A pair of Marsh Wrens were scolding early on before the wind came up.
