Attached is a photo of the SNOWY OWL that has been seen at Charlotte Beach in
Rochester. (Charlotte is pronounced sha LOT in Rochester!)
My sister, Lynn Scott, who took the photo, walked out on the main pier to see
the Snowy Owl on the adjacent pier by the Coast Guard station.

On a very cold, blustery day seventeen brave people, six being members of
the Cornell Student Bird Club, joined me in search of Short-eared Owls.
Because we started at 3:00 P.M. we had at least two hours before sunset.
We carpooled to Myers Point. It was extremely windy with high waves to see

Yes, what could be a better way to spend a sunny December Saturday than sorting
through immature gulls on piles of steaming garbage. The THAYER'S was
surprisingly easy to pick out and keep track of, thanks to the excellent photos
posted by Chris Wood on eBird that formed our search image. After
