About 11:30am I got a phone call from Melissa Groo, who had gone to Stewart Park in search of the Peregrine. If she doesn't post to the list by tomorrow morning what she told me she saw and photographed, I will do so. For the moment I will just say that Stewart Park is pretty special. --Dave Nutter
When I first read the subject line, I thought it was reporting the absence of a shrike: no shrike. Then I realized that it was an abbreviation for Northern Shrike. I often think it's worth the small extra effort to write the whole name of any bird in order to be clear, and I celebrate the very long
Susie & I jaunted up the east side of Cayuga Lake and back today. We had a
good visit with Fritzie and Becky in Union Springs where a large raft of
mostly Aythya was close in. No ice to speak of. Fritzie seems to think that
I have a larger scope and can therefore see more. It's not the scope but

will be a new development - I walked the lane (cannot drive in there). The
NORTHERN SHRIKE flew in front of me, then landed in the field. I got some
fine views as it stayed still a few moments, then moved about in the dry
gras
in Hedgerow and on barbed wire of chain-link fence north east of Airport (Seen
from Snyder Rd. Lansing).

parking/bridge area. It is not always readily seen. I see it near the road on
my commute route about 1 out of 6 trips by the Preserve and about 1 out of 3
times I walk around in the Prese
