[cayugabirds-l] Greater White-Fronted Goose Whitney Point Area Broome County -OOB

2017-12-01 Thread David Nicosia
All,

We have had a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE at Dorchester Park Whitney Point,
NY for over a week now. The bird is within a large flock of Canada Geese
(about 300 or so). Occasionally, the bird flies over to the Lopke Gravel
Pit Lake which is a few miles away on Rte 79 toward Itaska, NY. This place
is also an e-bird hotspot. Many have gotten great photos and excellent
looks at this bird as sometimes it is on the grass at Dorchester. Just
wanted to pass this along in case anyone is interested.

Thanks and good birding,
Dave Nicosia

[cayugabirds-l] Sandill Cranes

2017-12-01 Thread Johnson, Alyssa
Good morning! On my way into work this morning around 10:20 there were probably
40ish Sandhill cranes spread out on either side of Armitage Road, just west of
Olmstead Rd. Happy birding!

[cayugabirds-l] Snowy Owl Romulus (yesterday)

2017-12-01 Thread Daniel Graham
I realize this is too late to be of much use to folks but there was a
Snowy Owl on the ground affording great views about 50 yards south of
Yale Farm Rd in Romulus yesterday (11/30) at around 3:30pm:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/42.7912115,-76.870934//@42.7951606,-76.8710626,3575m/data=!3m1!1e3

This location has been a fairly reliable area to see Snowies in recent
years (but not last year). There were also thousands of Snow Geese on
the north side of the road yesterday.

This morning at 8 am there was no obvious owl and only a handful of
geese but I travel this way frequently and will report any other
sightings promptly.
