playground. An interesting interaction after it landed right next to a
great blue heron. The heron seemed to strike an aggressive pose as it
stalked the egret along the edge of the pond at a distance of about 15 feet

In addition to some excellent botanic sightings yesterday at McIlroy, we
had some spectacular views from the wetland viewing deck of a great egret
swooping and looping over the water, roosting in a tree, and patrolling the
water's edge. Apologies for the late posting.

Great Egret is still barely visible at the east side of the pond about midway
back as viewed from the area Diane describes. It is partially hidden by trees,
but being bright white helps in picking it up. It occasionally walks around
within a small area so be patient and it should show itself.

Driving on Rte 79 towards Ithaca today, I caught a short look at a bird
that I think was a great egret. I was not able to slow down or turnaround,
so hopefully someone else can confirm the bird.
