Hi everyone, This morning I was skateboarding around the neighborhood, with my dad running after me. Along Siena Drive, near Northeast Elementary, we noticed that there was a woodlot with a few dead trees, some with very "owly-sized" holes. There were chickadees mobbing one of the holes, and we

Today I had occasion to stop with the taxi at the Dandy Mini-Mart in Slaterville Springs. It being a cold sunny winter day, I thought to check the cavity in the tree behind the store which John Confer tipped us off to months ago. I guessed right, and added EASTERN SCREECH-OWL to my Office List

I had left the window open yesterday night and was facing the window and sleeping to catch the cool breeze. Early morning at 1.50 am I was woken up to a call of Eastern Screech Owl. After a few seconds it became louder, so I went to pick up my recorder and tried to record the sound, to my

Dave Nutter's comment about the Eastern Screech-owl reminded me that I had made a futile attempt a couple weeks back to 'see' one in the woods behind my house. He (or she) was tootling, probably around 9pm, very close by in the trees. It was clear, so I hoped for a silhouette, but no such luck.
