Hi all,
Yesterday there were a couple reports of Greater White Fronted Goose. Photos
accompanying the reports helped sort them out.
Since at least last spring there has been a pair of released or escaped
domestic geese in Ithaca living in the parks along Cayuga Inlet and Cayuga

All,
We have had a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE at Dorchester Park Whitney Point,
NY for over a week now. The bird is within a large flock of Canada Geese
(about 300 or so). Occasionally, the bird flies over to the Lopke Gravel
Pit Lake which is a few miles away on Rte 79 toward Itaska, NY. This pl
Brad Walker and I stepped outside for a few minutes late morning after
having seen a few Snow Geese moving earlier and were rewarded with an
impressive movement of birds, including several thousand SNOW GEESE with
groups of Canadas mixed in. Several CACKLING GEESE were present, mostly in

Perhaps the same Greater White-fronted Goose is back at Stewart Park right
now, in the goose flock along the shore near the western end, off the NE
corner of the tennis court.

Hi All,
Just a quick note to mention that there was a Greater White-fronted Goose
present at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva this morning (8 Jan 2011). There
was also a very interesting large hybrid goose that looked like it might have
been a Canada Goose x Barnyard cross.
Good birding,
Matt
I stopped at Dryden Lake between 11:00 and 11:30 this morning to soak in
some sun and scan the lake. I saw geese and gulls and figured I'd scan
through the roughly 100 Canada Geese on the lake just in case I could get
lucky and find a Cackling. Much to my amazement I found a Greater
White-front
I finally located the Greater White-fronted Goose on the rocky beach east of
Lagoda Point around noon. It was fast asleep, but easy to pick out along the
shoreline.
On Saturday, I saw and adult ICELAND GULL and an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL

Cayugabirders,
The Greater White-fronted Goose continued this morning at Myers Point
in Lansing. It was initially quite close inside the lighthouse marina
but moved over to Ladoga Point eventually.
Cheers,

It was Susan Danskin, leading a Cayuga Bird Club field trip around the lake,
who picked out the Greater White-fronted Goose this morning. At the time
it was close behind a gravel spit, and by the time I got my camera ready
it had settled down for a nap, but I think everyone got decent looks by
Cayugabirders,
Gary Kohlenberg reported a Greater White-fronted Goose at Myers Point
in Lansing this morning. I saw the bird shortly after with other
birders and we had nice looks in with a flock of Canadas that included
a yellow-collared goose, potentially from Greenland. The vividly

eastern portion of Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva at 11:15 AM.
Also seen in the vicinity was an adult LESSER BLACK BACKED GULL just
north of the pier behind the hotel (Ramada?).
