There is a significant restoration effort in Jamaica bay especially in the
Refuge.
There is also a volunteer effort to attempt preservation of the few small
islands still above water.
I was birding there about 4 weeks ago.
Quite a drastic change,loss of shoreline etc since I was a ranger there in
the 70s

I wonder what is the status of the lost seaweed which formerly grew in

But I hope there is some effort to restore that as well; I'll bet it would
help against strong sea surges. And I think it could thrive again, now that
there's less pollution there than in my childhood.
