Re: [cayugabirds-l] Red Breasted Nuthatch

2022-11-02 Thread Donna Lee Scott
We’ve had a couple Red-breasted Nuthatches at Kendal for at least a month.
They visit sunflower feeders at a couple cottages opposite a line of very tall
Norway Spruce trees, where I think they take shelter.
Trees are at property line on Northwest side of Kendal complex.

[cayugabirds-l] Red Breasted Nuthatch pair, Purple Finches

2016-11-05 Thread Nari Mistry
We were happy to see a second RB Nuthatch arrived at our feeders on
Nov.3. This past Feb, only one returned to our feeders -- we suspect the
mate had died. Eventually a second RB Nuthatch showed up, clearly a
young one that was quite unfamiliar with feeders.

Then in September only one returned, until two days ago when the second
showed up. Both have been feeding since then.

Also, since Oct.30 we have had two male Purple Finches and one female. A
female P Finch always shows up before any males every year. Is this a
normal pattern seen by others?

[cayugabirds-l] Red Breasted Nuthatch

2016-11-01 Thread Donna Lee Scott
I was delighted to see at least one RED BREASTED NUTHATCH at my feeder areas
for the last two days! I usually have only White Breasted Nuthatches all thru
the warm season, but sometimes see RB Nuthatches in fall and winter.

[cayugabirds-l] Red Breasted Nuthatch

2016-09-19 Thread Carol Keeler
Just had my first RB Nuthatch at my house near Auburn. I've never had one here
in the 17 years I've lived here. My friend down the lake in Skaneateles has
them yearly. I had them in Syracuse too. I hope it becomes a regular though
it probably was just passing through.

Few Hummingbirds coming now. I suspect the ones I am getting are migrants.

[cayugabirds-l] Red-breasted nuthatch

2013-03-17 Thread Marla Coppolino
There have been more species of birds at my feeders this weekend than any
other! Today there is a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH visiting my feeders for the
first time, as well as a FOX SPARROW, lots of COMMON REDPOLLS, AMERICAN
TREE SPARROWS, along with all the regulars. Some of the recently returned
regulars also, like RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS.
